About Us

The Southside Aikido Club was founded in August of 2006 by Tim Antrim after he relocated to Newnan, GA. A club by the same name was also operated by Antrim Sensei in Fayetteville, Georgia from 1992 until 1996 before he was transferred by his full-time employer out of the country. The Southside Aikido Club is an affiliate of the Aikido Center of Atlanta and is a member of the U.S. Aikido Federation.

Instructor Bio

Tim Antrim began studying Aikido in July of 1988 at the Aikido Center of Atlanta. He initially studied under Rodney Grantham and with George Kennedy after he became Chief Instructor upon Grantham Sensei’s retirement. In 1992, he started a club in Fayetteville and taught there while continuing to practice in Atlanta. In 1996 he was transferred to Mexico and had the opportunity to train with Kurita Sensei’s organization, one of the direct students of the founder of Aikido. He also lived in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Miami and practiced and taught Aikido in all of those locations. He also lived in south Florida and practiced with Peter Bernath, the Shidoin for the southeast region, for 3 years. Antrim Sensei restarted the Southside Aikido Club in August of 2006 when he returned to the Atlanta region.
